Potassium dideuterium phosphate DKDP (KD * P) crystal has low optical loss, high extinction ratio, and excellent electro-optical performance. DKDP Pockels cells are made by using the longitudinal effect of DKDP crystals. The modulation effect is stable and the pulse width is small. It is mainly suitable for low-repetition-frequency, low-power pulsed solid-state lasers (such as cosmetic and medical lasers).
Because DKDP crystals are prone to deliquescent and have poor mechanical properties, DKDP Pockels cell with excellent performance have extremely high requirements for the selection of DKDP material, crystal processing quality and switch assembling technique. The high performance DKDP Pockels cell developed by WISOPTIC have been widely used in high-en cosmetic and medical lasers produced by some distinguished companies in China, Korea, Europe and USA.
WISOPTIC has been granted of several patents for its technology of DKDP Pockels cells such as the integrated Pockels cell (with polarizer and λ/4 wave plate inside) which can be easily assembled into Nd:YAG laser system and helps to make laser head more compacted and cheaper.
